New chief officer joins CCG
NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group has appointed Melanie Craig as its new chief officer.
Ms Craig has joined the CCG from NHS Southend Clinical Commissioning Group, where she held the chief officer post for four years. Her appointment represents a return to her roots, as she was born and brought up in Suffolk.
Ms Craig joined the NHS in 1999 and held a number of senior leadership roles, as well as specialising in health inequalities. Prior to joining Southend, she spent seven years working in Suffolk where she was director of primary care with the primary care trust before helping to set up Ipswich and East Suffolk CCG as its chief operating officer.
“I am delighted to be returning to my home county to join NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney,” said Ms Craig.
“The CCG is ambitious and strives to find the best possible way to provide high quality services for its patients while also listening to their feedback and views when planning local healthcare. I look forward to building on that strong foundation further over the coming years.”
Dr John Stammers, chairman of the CCG, said: “We are delighted to welcome Melanie to NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
“She brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge built up during nearly 20 years of working in the NHS, and will help us continue to meet the significant challenges which the NHS is facing, both locally and nationally.”
