Mental Health

One in three people across the country live with a mental health condition. This may be for many reasons like anxiety, depression, an addiction or a psychotic condition.

Patients living with mental health conditions need treatment, care and support, which for those in Great Yarmouth and Waveney is usually provided by the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust via Wellbeing Norfolk and Suffolk

NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney CCG (NHSGYWCCG) pays (through the mental health trust) for treatment so we care for the mental wellbeing as well as the physical health of our community. NHSGYWCCG also pays for third sector organisations to provide some of these services.

Men's Sheds

The concept of 'Men's Sheds' is becoming an increasingly popular across the UK. Mental health can be affected by feelings of iscolation and loneliness. In this short interview two members of the Halesworth Men's Shed describe how the comraderie and sense of belonging has changed their lives for the better.

Health chiefs at HealthEast also fund Feedback, a community group for our whole area based in Lowestoft which offers the chance for people with mental health conditions and their families to tell us about their experiences and treatment. To find out more about Feedback and how to get in touch go to the Aspire website or call 03300 011239.
